our chapter

On June 26, 2004 at the University of Alberta, Nicole Mitchell-Duff and Amber Lindeman founded Alpha Psi. Alpha Psi is a local sorority which was created to provide University of Alberta students with an alternative to established Panhellenic fraternities on campus. All sororities on campus strive to provide an enhanced campus life by providing sisterhood, and Alpha Psi provides its members with an experience that is one of a kind.

Our mission is to create opportunities for a university experience that will enhance each member’s potential while providing a platform for self-expression, diversity and growth.

The ideals that Alpha Psi strives to promote are Sisterhood, Leadership, Academics, and Philanthropy. Alpha Psi provides a unique balance of memorable moments with fulfilling experiences by focusing primarily on improving the state of our community, reaching our academic goals, improving our ability to lead, and strengthening our bonds with each other.

A few of the ways that we strive towards these four things are by completing individual volunteer hours, organizing philanthropic events, scheduling study nights, providing scholarship opportunities, hosting Sisterhood Sundays, and arranging inter-fraternal exchanges.

Alpha Psi is a family. We have many sisterhood events throughout the year to not only become closer as friends but bond as sisters. Since we are a local sorority, we have the chance to provide a smaller, more intimate and personal sorority experience.

We are proud of all of our sisters and their academic accomplishments. We encourage all of our sisters to reach their own academic goals as well as maintain the GPA requirements of the sorority.

We believe that all of our sisters have the potential to promote leadership within our sorority as well as in the Greek community. There are many opportunities within our sorority as well as in the Greek and University community for leadership positions.

Because we are a local sorority, we try to support charities and causes that are Edmonton-based because we want to give back to the community that supports us. We also encourage all of our sisters to seek out many different volunteer opportunities.
